EchoChiasm is a Bible reading and study tool. This policy explains, in plain terms, what information the app touches and where it goes.
EchoChiasm does not have user accounts, does not run ads, does not use analytics or tracking, and does not sell or share your data with anyone. Almost everything you do in the app — reading, searching, saving highlights, tracking history — stays on your own device. The one exception is described below.
The following are stored only in your browser's local storage, on your own device, and are never transmitted anywhere:
The Bible text itself (King James Version and Reina-Valera 1909, both public domain) is bundled directly into the app and does not require an internet connection to read, search, or browse.
To generate an EchoChiasm study, the app sends the Bible passage you've selected or pasted, along with your personal Anthropic API key, directly from your device to Anthropic's API (the company behind Claude, the AI model used to generate study notes). This connection goes straight from your browser to Anthropic's servers — it does not pass through any server operated by the app's developer.
Anthropic's handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policy, available at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
Your API key is something you obtain yourself from Anthropic and enter into the app's Settings. It is stored locally and used only to authenticate that one request type — nothing else in the app depends on or transmits it.
The optional "Listen" (text-to-speech) and voice search (speech-to-text) features use your device's or browser's own built-in speech capabilities. Depending on your browser and operating system, voice search in particular may be processed by your device manufacturer's or browser vendor's own speech recognition service (for example, Google's, on Android/Chrome) rather than by this app or Anthropic. This is standard behavior for any app using these built-in browser APIs, and is outside the app's control — it does not send this audio to the app's developer or to Anthropic.
Since everything is stored locally, you're always in control. You can delete individual saved studies, highlights, or history entries directly within the app, or clear all app data at once by clearing your browser's site data for this app, or by uninstalling the app.
EchoChiasm is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app requires no account and stores data only locally on-device, no personal information is collected from any user, regardless of age.
If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a revised date at the top.
